Terms of Service

Johnson Motor Works · Mobile mechanic · Jacksonville, NC
Effective October 8, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to all work performed by Johnson Motor Works ("Johnson Motor Works," "I," "me" or "my"). By requesting a quote, paying a deposit, booking an appointment, or allowing work to be performed on your vehicle, you ("Customer") agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not book service.

In short: I replace parts you've identified. I don't diagnose problems, I don't warranty parts or labor, and once the job is done and you've accepted the vehicle, I am not responsible for later problems, failures or repairs.

1. Scope of service

  1. Johnson Motor Works provides mobile remove-and-replace (R&R) labor only. Only the work specifically agreed to by the Customer will be performed.
  2. No diagnostics. I do not diagnose vehicle problems. The Customer is solely responsible for determining which part(s) need replacement. I make no representation that replacing a requested part will fix any symptom or problem.
  3. I do not perform suspension work, tire work, or any service not listed or agreed to in advance.

2. Parts

  1. Prices are for labor only; parts are not included. Customer-supplied parts are recommended.
  2. Applicable North Carolina state and local sales tax is added to all bills.
  3. I am not responsible for the quality, condition, correctness, fitment, compatibility or performance of any part supplied by the Customer, or for any failure or damage caused by such parts. Any warranty on a part is provided only by its manufacturer or seller, and claims must be made with them.
  4. If a supplied part is wrong, defective or missing, labor and travel time already spent are still owed.

3. No warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by law, all services and any parts are provided "as is," with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or workmanlike quality. No guarantee is made on labor or results.

4. Release and limitation of liability

  1. After completion. Once the work is completed and the vehicle is returned to the Customer, the Customer accepts the vehicle and the work. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Johnson Motor Works is not responsible or liable for any later repairs, breakdowns, failures, malfunctions, or damage to the vehicle or any other property, including any additional repairs the vehicle may need.
  2. Pre-existing conditions. I am not responsible for pre-existing conditions or for damage resulting from the age, wear, rust, corrosion or condition of the vehicle, including seized, stripped or broken bolts, brittle hoses, clips, connectors, or other components that fail during normal removal and installation.
  3. Related or other systems. I am not responsible for failures of any part or system I did not work on, or for problems not resolved by the requested repair.
  4. No consequential damages. In no event will Johnson Motor Works be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including towing, rental vehicles, lost wages or income, lost time, or loss of use.
  5. Liability cap. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Johnson Motor Works' total liability for any claim arising from any service is limited to the amount the Customer actually paid for the labor on that service.
  6. Inspection. The Customer should inspect the work and test the vehicle before I leave. Any concern should be raised at that time.
  7. 7-day claim deadline. Any claim or complaint about a service must be sent to Johnson Motor Works in writing (a text to (470) 833-0948 or an email to info@johnsonmotorworksnc.com is fine) within 7 days after the work is completed. Claims not reported in writing within 7 days are waived.
  8. Right to inspect and correct first. Before any claim, the Customer must give Johnson Motor Works a reasonable opportunity to inspect the vehicle and, at my option, correct the work or refund the labor paid for that service. Doing so is the Customer's sole remedy.
  9. 7-day deadline to sue. Any lawsuit or legal action arising from a service must be filed within 7 days after the work is completed, or it is permanently waived. If a court finds this period unenforceable, the action must be filed within the shortest period allowed by law.
  10. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under North Carolina law.

5. Work location

  1. The Customer must provide a safe, legal, reasonably level place to work and confirm they have permission to have work done at that location.
  2. I may refuse or stop any job if conditions are unsafe, if the vehicle's condition makes the job unsafe or impractical, or if the agreed work changes. Labor and travel already spent are still owed.

6. Quotes, deposit, payment and cancellation

  1. Quotes are estimates based on information the Customer provides. Hourly jobs (such as alternators, starters, and engine or transmission swaps) are billed at $30 per hour for the actual time worked.
  2. A $100 deposit is required to book and is applied to the final bill. Deposits are paid online through Stripe at book.stripe.com.
  3. Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the appointment receive a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment, or no-shows, forfeit the deposit.
  4. A $100 travel fee applies to locations outside Onslow County. A $100 call-out fee applies to jobs after 10 PM.
  5. Payment is made by card through Stripe. Any remaining balance is due when the work is completed.
  6. Military discount: 10% off for active duty and retired military with valid military ID, shown before work begins.

7. General

  1. Johnson Motor Works is an independent mobile service and is not a dealership or affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer.
  2. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Any dispute shall be brought in the courts of Onslow County, North Carolina.
  3. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  4. These Terms may be updated at any time; the version in effect on the date of service applies.
